Privacy

Peakside is a free game George makes with a few friends. This is what it keeps, and why. Questions or requests: hi@georgeleonardo.com.

The beta list

If you leave your email on the beta page, Peakside keeps it with what you said you play on, the day you signed up and the link that brought you there, if it had a tag.

It's used to send your beta pass and, after that, a note when there's a new build worth riding. Nothing else. It's never sold or shared, except that an invitation sent through Apple's TestFlight or Google Play's testing gives them your email so they can send it.

It's kept until you ask to be taken off, or the beta ends. Reply to any email, or write to hi@georgeleonardo.com.

Play stats

To fix what's slow or broken and see what's worth more work, the game sends George small play stats: whether it crashed, how long loading took, frame times and the graphics setting; the first ride's steps; time in each sport, runs and lifts ridden, challenges, quests and medals; where on the game's mountain you ride and fall (on a 25 m grid); and invites and friend games.

Each session carries the app's version, the device's model and system, the name you ride under on the hill, and a random id the game makes when it's first opened. It isn't your device's id.

Never collected: chat or report text, advertising ids, your device's own id, contacts, your real location, IP addresses, or anything you type.

Settings › About › Share play stats turns them off. Off sends nothing more and forgets what was waiting to be sent.

Riding with others

When you're online, the riders on the same hill see your name, your outfit, where you are on the mountain and what you're doing, as it happens, and every chat line goes to everyone on the hill. The relay passes these along and doesn't keep them.

The chalkboards keep your best times and scores with the name you ride under, a random rider id and the riders you've shared the hill with in the last 30 days, for your crew's boards.

Your saves

Your progress, outfit and unlocks are kept on the game's server as well as your device (Menu › Coat check), so a new device can pick up where you left off. The last few versions are kept as backups. The web version also keeps your progress in your browser.

Reports and ideas

Settings › Help & feedback sends what you write with a picture of the game, its last log lines, your name on the hill, the version, your device and where you were in the game. They're kept for George and filed in his private project on GitHub. If they can't be sent, the game offers to send them by email instead.

Where it's kept

Everything above is kept on Cloudflare, which runs the game's server. Your internet address is used, scrambled, to slow down floods of requests, and is forgotten within a day.

Peakside is meant for players 13 and older. It has no ads and no purchases, and nothing it keeps is sold.
